FRENCH TELLING TIME HALF PAST LIST FREEBIE

PRIMARY FRENCH IMMERSION BEGINNER FRENCH FOR CHILDREN TELLING TIME ANALOG HALF PAST THE HOUR LIST WITH MATCHING CLOCK FACES The resource is non-editable in a zipped format. It may not be copied, rewritten, amended, shared or distributed outside your own classroom. The license is a single-user license only. Please read the Terms of Use. The resource is free to download, but Terms of Use still apply. I like to give visual vocabulary lists to my young beginner learners of French, as they can generally more easily assimilate new language and vocabulary when they are able to link it in their memory with a visual image, and it’s particularly important to match a clock time with the corresponding clock face when learning how to tell time. Children glue the lists into their French vocabulary books, or file them in their French vocabulary folders with other vocabulary lists, which gives them an accessible and useful French vocabulary reference bank for both class and home learning. For young and / or beginner French learners, I focus initially on a single time set, and this list shows half past the hour on a single page. This is because in my experience students benefit from a very clear outline of new language and vocabulary, avoiding lots of text on a single page - even my older students who are completely new to French prefer this. When I’m sure that students are confident with o’clock, I then move on to additional time sets. There are two backgrounds to choose from - French flag, which I use for French vocabulary display, or plain. My students find this super simple worksheet freebie focusing on half past the hour really useful: https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/french-telling-time-half-past-worksheets-freebie-12908519 Have a look at this reference guide for telling time in French, every analog clock time with matching clock faces: ($3): HOW TO TELL TIME IN FRENCH : GUIDE WITH EVERY ANALOG CLOCK TIME https://www.tes.com/en-us/teaching-resource/french-telling-time-reference-book-12507037 Have a browse in my store for more French visual vocabulary lists, and a wide range of other French teaching and learning materials, with French dollar deals, special offer bundles, and lots of freebies. MATH CENTER NUMBERS 0-10 WORD SEARCH FREEBIE

(1)
MATH CENTER WORD SEARCH NUMBERS 0-10 Word searches a fabulous way of encouraging learners to engage with the written word, practicing and reinforcing language as they complete the grids. This is a free word search, focusing on Numbers 0-10. The search offers a really useful learning opportunity - consolidating not only new numbers, but also working on reading, writing, spelling and literacy skills in general - children often focus on the arithmetic skills involved with numbers, but it’s just as important to work on consolidating the written words too. It’s ideal for both math centers, as a fun-time filler as well as a targeted practice of the written numbers themselves. Word searches are easily differentiated, with opportunity to increase challenge gradually, and learners have to look very carefully at letters, and how words are constructed to complete the grid. They are able to identify which direction words are located in within the grid by referring to the arrow key. Here, for additional consolidation, they also rewrite each number in the word column. There is an answer grid for the word search, so that learners can check their answers - or use for a little extra help if they need it! For me, answer keys are essential, as they not only provide learners with another opportunity to engage with language, but they also help them develop more independence in their learning. They’re also a great teacher time-saver - a real bonus! The word search is in landscape format, mirroring the common direction of reading and writing in English from left to right, facilitating learner engagement with the activity. The landscape format is also really useful for learners whose first language is written from right to left. There is a single grid per 8.5 x 11 (A4) sheet - I like to ensure that text is accessible to all learners, and at this stage of their learning, it’s absolutely essential that language looks accessible and manageable. Have a look at this set: MATH CENTER ACTIVITIES : NUMBERS 0-10 FIVE DIFFERENTIATED WORD SEARCHES WITH ANSWER KEY & GRID TEMPLATE https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/math-center-numbers-0-10-word-searches-12660559 Please note this is the math center version of my ESL / EFL Numbers 0-10 Word Search freebie. LATIN NUMBERS & ROMAN NUMERALS 1-20 WORD WALL FREEIBE

(1)
LATIN FOR CHILDREN BEGINNER LATIN NUMBERS ROMAN NUMERALS DISPLAY WORD WALL These word wall cards are great for creating an instant introduction to Latin numbers and Roman Numerals 1-20. I really like to have key vocabulary displayed in a particular area - I find it gives the learning environment a real language ‘feel’ and ‘look’, keeping the language alive every day - and of course the word wall cards are useful during the introduction phase, and we also use them for developing language skills and awareness in general. We like to do number guessing and calculation games at regular intervals too. My younger learners enjoy taking their mini-whiteboards or notepads, and doing Latin vocabulary or calculation race games at the word wall. There are two cards per 8.5 x 11 (A4) page in landscape format - the words are definitely big enough for children to be able to read from various location in the classroom. There are two backgrounds to choose from - color or black wave. I definitely recommend that you print on card stock and/or laminate - the word wall will hang really nicely, and will also last for years. The templates enable learners to apply their language practically and creatively, which is really important at this stage of literacy development. There is an answer grid for each word search, so that learners can check their answers - or use for a little extra help if they need it! They are easily differentiated - and the grids have an increasing level of challenge, to ensure that all students can feel confident about their learning - and lots of chances to keep challenging themselves. I’ve indicated the direction the words are located in the grid with arrows. The word searches are really versatile, and I use them in lots of different learning contexts, such as starter and refresher activities, fun-time fillers, sub lessons, or free-choice activity at any time during the school year. There are five Latin-Latin grids - the prompt words are in Latin, and the grid words are also in Latin. Each grid is progressively more challenging. There are also five English-Latin grids - the prompt word is in English, and students have to find the Latin equivalent in the grid. On each grid there’s a number list they have to complete too for extra practice. Each grid is on 8.5 x 11 (A4) landscape format - this format has always worked best for my beginner Latin learners. MATH CENTER NUMBERS 0-100 Ten differentiated word searches with answer keys a fabulous way of encouraging learners to engage with the written word, practicing and reinforcing language as they complete the grids. This set features ten differentiated word searches, focusing on Numbers 0-100, with each consecutive grid increasing in challenge. The searches offer a really useful learning opportunity - enabling learners to engage with the target numbers vocabulary, but also aligning with cross-curricular learning - working on comprehension and arithmetic skills in general. Learners are able to identify which direction words are located in within the grid by referring to the arrow key. As they move through the grids, their skills are challenged in a range of ways - from straightforward vocabulary searching, to gap-fill, scrambled letters and sentence questions, which feature mathematical language. Hyphens are really important in English numbers, and the grids feature these quite clearly, in order to ensure that learners can practice this aspect of language. There is an answer grid for each word search, so that learners can check their answers - or use for a little extra help if they need it. For me, answer keys are essential, as they not only provide learners with another opportunity to engage with language, but they also help them develop more independence in their learning. The cards have a bonus multi-skill focus on listening, speaking, pronunciation, reading and spelling, and really help students develop more independence in their learning, moving away from more teacher-led tasks and activities. There’s also a question card template for students to apply language creatively and practically, which is an essential aspect of successful language learning, and is also a really popular activity with my students. Task cards are really versatile too - we use them not only when we’re focusing on the target vocabulary, but throughout the year for sub lessons, as entrance and exit tickets, refreshers and free-choice learning. The goal is not simply to learn and practice how to count in French, but also to enjoy working with language, and to feel confident about doing so. The questions range in complexity and challenge, ensuring a scaffolded learning experience for students. All the questions are in French, including a range of French math language. Students may not necessarily engage with that at this stage of their learning, so I use math symbols as visual clues and prompts, enabling students to infer meaning from context. This is a key language learning skill in general, which is important for students to develop as quickly as possible. The resource comprises the following non-editable files in a zipped format: 36 differentiated question cards 4 per A4 (8.5 x 11) paper. Print, laminate and cut out. A lively whole-group multi-skill language learning game, ideal for Primary French Immersion / Elementary French and Beginner French students. The repetitive nature of the questions and answers, supported by the visual prompt of the clock faces, makes it perfect for practicing, reinforcing & refreshing how to tell time in French, and for pronunciation practice too. There are 8 clock faces per page, and I cut the cards in sets of 2, so four larger cards per page. This means that students can see two clock faces and times per game card, which really helps to consolidate learning. It’s also a lot less prep than cutting out eight individual cards, though I do actually have a set like this, which we use as a larger-size dominoes game. I always laminate my language learning cards - it’s definitely worth the extra prep time and expense, as they’re more learner-friendly, and remain in excellent condition for years. The aim of the game is to arrange the clocks in the relevant order. Students will generally have several cards each, depending on the size of your class. We usually set the cards on a table, so that students can see the timeline clearly. I frequently use a timer when we play. Playing in teams, using either a single challenge, or with both challenges together, is really popular - students find the competitive element really motivating and are genuinely keen to see which team can finish first, and whether they can beat their own time record. The games also work well as pair or small-group games. There are two games, each with a different challenge: = Challenge 1: with all the the clock times in numerical order, J’ai… Qui a… ? = Challenge 2: with the all the clock times in random order, which really helps recall and embedding new language, as students often learn time phrases in numerical order, As-tu… ? Set 1: o’clock & half past Set 2: quarter to & past Set 3: range of analog times I generally work with telling time in French quite quickly with my beginner French students, as it lends itself really well to promoting speaking in the classroom, discussing daily routines for example. There are two questions: Quelle heure est-il ? with a particular clock face, and students write the response on their recording sheet or in their workbooks. The second question is Vrai ou faux ? and students write either vrai or faux - where the answer is faux, remind students to write the correct time for additional consolidation. Each set comprises the following non-editable files: = 60 question cards, 10 per A4 (8.5 x 11) paper = answer key & recording sheet Laminate the cards if you can - they’re far more learner-friendly, and remain in excellent condition for years. Please read the Terms of Use carefully. Task cards are an ideal language learning activity, providing multi-skill language learning opportunities. These sets are ideal for a range of French language grades. This kind of activity really does help to create a lively language learning environment. Students can develop, embed, reinforce and refresh their French language skills in a cooperative, communicative and interactive way, independently of the teacher. The differentiated questions have a bonus multi-skill focus on listening, speaking, pronunciation, reading and spelling. They’re great for helping students familiarise themselves with, and develop competence in, speaking, reading, writing and spelling in French in general, and on the focus language, for example, conjugating French RE verbs in the present tense in particular. I use task not only when we’re focusing on the focus language and grammar, but also for sub lessons, as an all-year-round starter, plenary and general ‘pick-me-up’ activity. The goal is not simply to learn how French works, and how patterns can be identified and applied, it’s also about enjoying working with French, and to feel confident about doing so. The questions are differentiated, and range in complexity and challenge, with some calling specifically upon prior and new knowledge too, helping students make links and build bridges in their learning. There may be some vocabulary that students are not familiar with - these questions give them the opportunity to learn and apply new language too. Other grammatical concepts are addressed in the questions too, such as gender agreement, direct and indirect objects, personal pronouns and question formats in French. The question card template available in some sets enables students to apply their knowledge practically and creatively, which is an essential element to successful language learning. To get the most from the questions, I frequently look at the multiple-choice questions as a whole-group, identifying not only why there is a single correct response, but what the errors are in the other choices. Identifying errors, and explaining precisely why something is inaccurate or incorrect, helps students to think about language a little more laterally, and ensures that they are thinking concepts through, rather than simply relying on learned responses. All sets have full answer keys and recording sheets.
